Providing Counselling and Therapy in the Lincolnshire Wolds

Marellis Counselling and Therapy helps clients unravel those challenging times that life often throws at us. By using an integrated approach, I can help you discover appropriate skills that can support you moving forward. I work with young people, as well as adults and have experience providing therapy in educational settings. I also work with employers that want to provide mental health support for their staff.

What to expect?

Screenshot 2023-11-07 at 12.20_edited.jp

Each client is an individual and so the therapy I provide also takes into account specific needs.  I normally suggest six sessions initially but this may be more or less depending on your requirements.  The first session includes a general introduction and discusses the Client/Therapist agreement. Confidentiality is very important to me and I adhere to the GDPR data protection act, more details can be found on our FAQ section.

I can provide either “face to face” sessions at the Swaby therapy room or online sessions via video link.  Working online has proved very successful, especially during the pandemic when restrictions applied.  Fees per session are £45 but concessions may be given depending on individual circumstances.

I also use social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, which provide useful advice and tools to help with specific issues, such as anxiety or self-care.

FAQ

What issues do you work with?

As a therapist, I see clients present with many issues and problems. Some of those that I have worked with are:* anxiety* self-harm* abuse* trauma* relationship issues* self-esteem* eating disorders* gender identity* grief and bereavement * anger issues* stress * depression * panic attacks* PTSD* and domestic violence*
I use a variety of techniques, such as creative therapies and CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy), as well as person-centred counselling theories.  I have an extensive range of materials I can use and often provide resources for clients to take home if they want to.

Professional Bodies

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists)

I am also a Practitioner member of APCCA (Association of Person Centred Creative Arts)

Confidentiality

I will keep your personal data for the duration that you are a client and I will retain this data for only as long as necessary in accordance with my insurance companies' requirements.  I do not and never shall sell your personal data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Any notes or other data are stored securely in a locked cabinet and I follow professional guidance to keep digital data safe. I am also registered with the ICO  (information Commissioners Office).

How do I choose a Therapist?

It is essential to enlist the support of a fully qualified counsellor, who can support you through the therapeutic process.  Please see the "about me" page to view my qualifications and experience.

COVID precautions

I take measures to reduce the risk of COVID in the therapy room and during sessions, as I know that some clients will be clinically vulnerable. Hand sanitiser is available for clients's use if required.  Each client has their own pens and pencils provided in a an individual pouch.  I encourage clients not use masks in the therapy room as this is not conducive to talking therapy, however, if you feel you would like to wear as mask, please feel free to do so. The chair is covered with a throw, that is washed or sanitised after each client and the distance between chairs is kept to a maximum.  Hopefully you will feel safe whilst visiting.

Owner and Therapist

I have specialised in working using creative counselling techniques, which incorporate a Person Centred approach and can be adapted to work with individual needs.

I have also have a varied experience of working with adults and young people, supporting clients throughout difficult times in their lives.  I have a person-centred background but also incorporate other theories into my work, such as CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy)

I am qualified at Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 Diploma  (specialising in working with Children and Young People). I also gained my Level 5 Diploma, which included 30 hours of CBT work and workshops for “adult survivors of abuse”.  This course was aimed at adult clients so I have skills to work confidently with both adults and young people (age 13+). I have also qualified as a Creative Arts Counsellor, which incorporates creativity into therapy sessions.  Don't worry, the ability to draw isn't essential!
